My
decision to run for this office is based primarily on
one reason: I am convinced that I possess the voice to
represent the wants of the average St. Louis citizen
in Jefferson City. As a born and raised St. Louis
native, I am aware of our city’s unique and diverse
needs and can represent those needs as only a native
can. My collegiate education in communications and
public health and my long history of involvement in
the community have provided me with the commitment and
the ability to understand and represent my
constituency on multiple levels. I am pursuing this
position because the political arena is the only area
where the decisions that are made impact the quality
of life for all Americans.Every morning when we
awaken, we are bombarded by the news media with all
that is wrong with our city and with our society as a
whole. Each day, I keep waiting – as I am sure you do
– to hear from our elected officials regarding
effective solutions to these issues. Since we continue
to experience the same problems year after year
(regardless of whom we vote for), I am convinced that
it is time for some real change. I have served in a
number of political positions that have provided me
with the knowledge and skill to help bring about such
change – current Committeeman of the 26th
Ward, former Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Mike
Jones, in the Harmon administration, Legislative
Assistant to former State Representative, Quincy
Troupe, and former Legislative Researcher for
Congressman William Lacy Clay, Jr.
In summation, I am a 39-year-old St. Louis man that
believes that St. Louis cannot succeed if we continue
on our current path. It is my goal to help our city
grow and prosper by improving the quality of life for
each of our citizens. My youth gives me hope, my
experience makes me capable, and my desire for change
will make a positive difference in your life.
I respectfully ask for your support
on Tuesday, August 5th, 2008. Remember to Vote
for Joseph "Joe" Palm for State Representative of the
57th District.
Peace & Love
